Manual Review of Detected Clicks

Automatic click detection will inevitably sometimes go wrong. This is due to the unpredictable nature of vinyl damage, and the fact that the transients of some instruments (particularly reeds and brass such as saxophone and trumpet) are very similar to typical clicks. Sometimes "phantom clicks" get detected which are not clicks at all.

Unlike many other automatic declickers, Wave Repair's declicking proceeds in two distinct phases: detection and repair. The user can review what has been detected before any repairs are made, which allows phantom clicks to be identified.

A common mode of working is to use Wave Repair's automatic detection but not the automatic repair, instead stepping through the detected clicks manually and applying the most appropriate repair technique on a click-by-click basis.
